We’ve been looking at the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and his fruit, flower and vegetable themed portraits.

Year 3 had a go at some robot paintings. We linked 2d shapes for the body. Then we mixed some colours and used a dark grey down one side, and white down the other side to make it look metallic. We added detail with black paint or pen last of all. What do you think?

We had a look at some of Eric Joyner’s paintings as part of our topic. We like them, but we thought his obsession with donuts was .. interesting!

And the class had their own thoughts on his work..

We’ve been looking at Rangoli patterns as part of our topic. We looked at how we can make our own simple designs using paper and pen, how to fold the paper and trace it to make our design symmetrical.

Last week, we practiced our painting skills on some printed patterns, and next we’ll make up our own designs to paint! If they’re as good as this, they’ll be fantastic!

Year 3 have been getting very creative recently!

In Art, they have been designing candles wrapping paper.

They have explored blending and overlaying pastels.

I think they’ve done rather well!
